Will it actually work for my dog's allergies?
If your dog reacts to common proteins like chicken or beef, switching to a novel protein is a great step to help limit those reactions.
Limiting exposure to other protein sources is key - for dogs with sensitivities, we recommend initially following an elimination diet, only feeding Grub Club food and treats for around 8 weeks after the transition. Most customers notice an improvement in their dog's stomach after a few weeks, with skin & coat improvements beginning to take shape after 8-12 weeks.
If your dog is being treated by a vet, we recommend keeping them updated and following their advice as you transition their diet.
What is insect protein, and why use it?
Our insect protein (Hermetia illucens - or Black Soldier Fly Larvae) is a complete novel protein, with all 10 amino acids dogs need to thrive.
A novel protein is simply a unique protein source that most dogs haven't been exposed to before. For dogs with protein sensitivities, this means that their body is less likely to recognise it as a threat, meaning it's less likely to cause irritation.
Insect protein is unique as it's highly digestible and contains added benefits to support skin and gut, including omegas. This makes it a great choice for dogs who suffer with upset stomachs and irritated skin attributed to food sensitivities.
